Managing director: Eddie Tobin

Eddie TobinEddie has extensive experience in security, both as a customer and supplier.

Managing director Eddie Tobin has 30 years experience of supplying and buying security services through his senior roles with Scottish & Newcastle Breweries, Stakis plc and Carnegies Leisure and as managing director of Scotland’s largest independent security company.  His extensive experience means he knows what our clients need and want.

Eddie’s enthusiasm for the business and his drive to see the late-night economy succeed is shown by his presence on numerous committees  concerning the industry. He was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Scottish Licensed Trade News and was named one of Scotland’s best icons of the licensed trade by Dram Magazine. He co-founded the Best Bar None Scheme and is a director of Crimestoppers.

He advised the Security Industry Authority prior to major legislation changes and has been an advisor to the Scottish Government. He is a regular speaker at a diverse range of conferences and is generally accepted as the spokesman for the late night industry.

His career, however, began as manager and promoter of such artists as The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Nazareth, Midge Ure and Billy Connelly. He also ran a number of high profile venues such as the Apollo in Glasgow. Last year he wrote a book entitled “Are Ye Dancin’”,  – The story of Scotland’s dance halls, rock’n'roll… and how yer da met yer ma.

James Glackin and Mark ThorburnJames and Mark, previously directors of First Point Security, bring their own unique skills to Security Scotland. Operations Director James began working in the licensed security trade at the age of 18 and worked his way up through the ranks to the position of operations manager with a large Glasgow-based organisation prior to forming his own company. Director Mark has many years experience in management of large shopping centres and working in security with Celtic Football Club before joining James in forming First Point Security. These two forward-thinking individuals decided to establish their own company in 2004, offering a personal touch which they believed set them apart from competitors.
